As the UK's leading charity for girls, our client needed to answer the overarching question ‘How can we design a uniform for girls, by working with them to test and develop ideas that will be considerate and accessible for different needs, and meet the organisations future strategy valuing inclusivity and sustainability?’
To ensure the new uniform was designed alongside girls, and considered a diverse range of needs and opinions, research was needed to give girls a voice and listen to their feedback and experiences. A mix of methods was used to achieve this.
Learnings from experts and girls from diverse backgrounds including representation of ethnicity, religion, disability, neurodiversity and age to identify areas that are key to consider for the new uniform.
Findings were used to feed into the designing of the uniforms, based on girls’ opinions and experiences to create a consensus on colours, logo and details. The redesigned uniforms are set to launch in 2026.
